Etiquette Wednesdays "NO KIDS PLEASE"

Some couples, for reasons of their own, do not want children to attend their wedding reception. The reasons for this may range from trying to lower costs by trimming wedding guests from the list, to simply not wanting to put up with potential crying, wailing, or hyperactivity on the part of the little guys.

If you are thinking about the option of an Adults Only wedding reception, its critically important that you consider the matter carefully and realize that some may indeed find this to be a tad offensive, ungracious, or downright cold. Weddings are not typically adult only events - in fact, throughout history, children have played an important role in the symbolism associated with weddings - and therefore some might be offended that you are dictating that they must leave their little ones at home.

Ultimately however, your wedding day is YOUR day and the bottom line is that you have a right to be happy and have it your way on this one day out of your entire life. If, after carefully considering this, you decide that this is the way it is going to be, you should follow the following rules for this delicate situation

Indicate that the reception is to be adults only by having the words "Adults Only Reception" or "Adult Reception" printed along with the reception location and time on the invitation.
Do not use phrases such as NO KIDS, NO CHILDREN, etc. The only correct wording is Adult Reception or Adults Only Reception.

If you are excluding some children, the rule is that you must exclude all children. There must not be different rules for different people or some individuals will be deeply offended and hurt - and rightly so. The only possible exception to this would be any children who are in the wedding party. However, the jury is out in this area. While some etiquette experts feel that it may be alright to make this exception, there is a stronger belief that if the reception is to be adults only, no children should be included as part of the wedding party.

Tatiana & David Go Green!!

Tatiana came to me looking for a specific brand in mind, and left with a totally customized concept for her wedding invitations. We took the idea for this invitation from another sample I had in Blue and Silver and she wanted to add some flair to it, so we went with a bold green patterned paper as accents. Time was of the essence for her, as her wedding is only a few weeks away. We had to rush the whole process and we were lucky we were able to produce quality work in under two weeks from start to finish.
Custom Belly Band wrapped the invitation

Close up of the invitation layered in its pocket with coordinating Green response envelope.

The pocket was lined with coordinating cardstock to match the invitation.

The enclosures all lined up in a step pattern on the pocket fold.

Ettiquette Wednesdays " Accomodations Card"

Accommodations Card.. What are they? Why do we have to provide one? whats the standard wording. Destination Weddings are getting more and more popular. Accommodation cards are used as a type of formal information stationery. Its a great way to provide your guest the information for their stay while attending your wedding if they are from out of town.

Accommodation cards are not just for Out of Towners anymore. More and more local brides have been asking for accommodation cards. They are finding their wedding day to be more of a weekend getaway for many guests that are coming to their wedding. Recently a current client had asked me about accommodation cards so that their guests could make reservations at the Hotel after the wedding so they can spend the weekend with the Bride and Groom before they left on their honeymoon on Monday Morning. I guess it was a great way to extend the Party.

I'm currently working on some design concepts for a couple of brides that have requested Accommodation Cards. Once I have them ready I will post them.
